For December, I interviewed CJ Jump, one of the most active players in MoiPal.

So how did you find MoiPal?
I actually ran across MoiPal by accident. A friend on Facebook invited me to play the MoiPal Racing mini-game. Great fun !!! (Facebook also now hosts a profile page for MoiPal, and a fan site). There was a link on there, when I created my car, that invited me to join the MoiPal website. I was directed to the sign-up page, where I found the site looked to be both whimsical and fun. Little did I know of the challenges, prizes, and puzzles that awaited me. I proceeded to create my Pal, and begin my adventures. Now I’m hooked !

How often do you visit?
I actually play as much as possible. There are always new puzzles to solve, new missions to accomplish, new prizes to find, and new concepts being developed. I’d hate to miss a thing ! Especially since seasonal, and special, items and missions are only available for a limited time.

What are your main activities in MoiPal?
I have a system that really works for me and my life. I work full time and have 2 sons, one of which plays MoiPal also. I wake up in the morning, and log in to see what my Pal did while I was asleep. Then I check my messages before sending my Pal out for however many hours I’ll be at work. When I return home, my Pal is getting home too. I think that’s great ! She’s kinda like my alter ego. She goes out adventuring, while my real life self slaves at work all day, lol. First thing I do when I get home, is log on and check for messages again. Then I open my MoiPhone to see what my Pal accomplished while I was away. I do some gardening, practice my band’s songs, try to score well at Pal-Letters, and get some exercise jumping rope. Then I calculate how much time my Pal has until I go to bed, and send her back out to the City for that amount of time. After that, it’s on to the forums. I really enjoy being able to help newer players, as I was helped by more experienced players when I first started playing. I feel as though I’m passing on the help and advice I’ve been given. Kinda like a ‘pay it forward’ type of thing. Plus, I feel as though I’m giving something back to the game, and players, that have given me so much happiness and fun. I also enjoy being able to give feedback on things I enjoy doing on MoiPal, and things that aren’t working as they are supposed to. Luckily, the latter doesn’t happen very often at all. I check on my pet, and drive some races, before going to take care of real life things for a few hours. Before I go to bed, I come back to check on my Pal, send her back out for the time I’ll be asleep, and check for replies to my forum posts. The next morning, I start all over again !

How would you like to see MoiPal develop?
I feel as though MoiPal has come a long way already. I know the changes I’ve seen since I started playing, and I’ve read about changes that occurred before I found the site. It seems to me that there are many more updates and changes to come, and I can hardly wait for them. I’ve already experienced the addition of pets, vip, Road Trip, the Islands, and Seasonal items and missions. I miss the old friends list where you could see from that your feelings towards your friends, and who is listed on your pc in the MoiPhone. I also think you should be able to access up to 20 friends in your phone’s pc, rather than 10. I realize that MoiPal is still a work in progress though, and I’m patient. This is, after all, the 1st game of it’s kind. One you can play online, and on your cell phone. I understand that it’s hard to be able to program the game to be able to work well on both at the same time. I love the flags beside people’s names that lets you know where they are from. Making the chat a little more accessible might be a thought. Allow players to access it from the website, rather than from the closet. Also, a larger list of cell phones that MoiPal can be played on. I would love to be able to check on my Pal’s progress when we’re slow at work, but my cell phone is not on the compatible list :>( . As a woman, I would also like to be able to go to the mall (hair place would work well), and buy a new facial look to go along with my mood. Different expressions, makeup, different skin tones. I know I am always paler in the winter than in the summer. I also know I would sometimes like my Pal to reflect the mood I’m in, or become the opposite of it. Plus, I’ve read on the forums that some players thought they’d like how they created their avatar, but then regretted it afterwards and had no way to change it. So they make up a new account to fix it, and either ignored their old one, or requested a deletion of the old account. Providing us with alternative expressions , skin tones, facial hair (for the guys), and makeup, would help solve this problem.

What makes MoiPal different for you, comparing to other online games?
MoiPal is more user friendly, for starters. Easier to play, and it’s great for all ages. I’ve met people on here that range from 9 yrs old, all the way up to 65 yrs old. From many different Countries, and all walks of life. Students, teachers, athletes, scientists, computer geeks, house-wives, blue collar workers, white collar worker, and everyone in between. And the MoiPal team is awesome at keeping it safe and clean for the younger players ! Between them, the moderators, and the players themselves, everyone tries to make sure no one becomes abusive to other players, or becomes inappropriate towards the younger players. MoiPal also has more changes occurring as you go along, rather than seeing all there is to see right up front. I love the surprise, and mystery, of it all. I also love that you can come and go as you like, or need to, and your Pal continues on without you. Much better than having to be glued to your computer in order to play the game. I’d be on here much less if I had to do that, and so would many others I’d bet. I like that you can buy and change clothes for your Pal, as well as other things. I’ve also noticed how friendly the site is, and everyone on it. Also, that everyone tries to help other players when possible. You don’t see that a lot on other online games. Instead of trying to beat other players at something, or score higher, the members of MoiPal seem more like a huge extended family that does what they can to help each other out. I absolutely love the site, and would recommend it to anyone !
